Air Fried Buffalo Turnip Fries with Ranch Dip

Updated: Jul 6, 2022

I hope you all had a fabulous Independence Day!!!! We certainly enoyed our holiday this year. We always find some fireworks to watch and snack all day while spending time with family and friends. This year was no exception.

I thought it would be fun to bring the fire for this week's recipe. I even had my good friend Belinda taste test this recipe and I received two thumbs up. I absolutely love when my friends and family taste test and give me honest feedback before I share a recipe to all of you.

You might be asking why turnips???? When it comes to calories and overall carbs turnips come in a lot lower than potatoes. A great article to read about the differences can be found at https://thrivecuisine.com/turnip/turnip-vs-potato-what-is-the-difference/

One word on seasoned salt. You can use whatever brand you prefer but I learned a long time ago that my personal preference is the Red Robin Seasoning from the Red Robin restaurant. Did you know that you can go to the restaurant and buy it from them directly? I think the large container I have was only $4 or $5. Seriously. Go get some and maybe enjoy a burger while you're on the property. My husband and I have a date night there a couple times a year whenever I'm low on seasoning.

Also, I love the heat level in Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce and buy it from Sam's Club. If you have a wing sauce that you prefer feel free to use that instead on this recipe.

Buffalo Turnip Fries

2 or 3 large turnips

1 tbsp oil

1 tsp seasoned salt (I use the seasoning from Red Robin)

2 tbsp Frank's Buffalo Sauce or buffalo sauce of choice.

Peel and slice turnips into french fry shapes

Toss fries in oil and seasoning

Air fry at 390 for 20 minutes, shaking basket at the halfway point

Toss cooked fries in buffalo sauce

I love to serve this with the Ranch Dip that I mix up as well.

Ranch Dip

1 cup light sour cream

1 cup nonfat greek yogurt

1 packet ranch seasoning mix

Mix all ingredients and refridgerate for at least 1 hour before use.

Once I have my dip mixed up and my fries ready to go I feast! Feel free to drizzle a little extra buffalo sauce on top for extra heat or to add a sprinkle of cheese and scallions for a little something extra.

My daughter even likes the turnip fries (without the spicy factor) dipped in ketchup. I actually had her quite upset with me when I took these photos as I didn't save her any prior to adding the buffalo sauce.
